Project Case Study

Ticket Vending Machine installation work for Scheidt & Bachmann across multiple Rail Networks

May 2020-Present Day

Summary

Scheidt & Bachmann UK, specialise in delivering Fare Collection Systems for train operating companies across the country. Our services were recommended to S&B in 2019, and in 2020 our Installation team helped continue their rollout of TVM’s in what was a challenging year.

Working through the pandemic

In March 2020, with the outbreak of Coronavirus, installation and upgrade work at train stations came to an unprecedented halt. Aspect had previously worked with Scheidt & Bachmann in a small capacity prior to Covid-19, however, with Train Operating Companies eager for business to resume, S&B approached Aspect to establish a safe system of work that would be acceptable to ground staff and customers.

Following weeks of revised method statements, Aspect were able to get back to installation work at Kidderminster station (West Midlands Trains) in June.

Primary installation team

With a safe system of work in place and following the new protocols and safety guidelines, our first installation in a Covid world proved a success. It would lead to further installation work for S&B, covering TOC’s including GTR, GWR, SWR, ScotRail and, primarily, Transport For Wales, who were undergoing a full refresh of their fleet of TVM’s until the project was interrupted by Covid.

Burgeoning Reputation

It is our work on the TFW project that we cemented our reputation as a flexible, reliable and professional organization. Regularly given minimal notice of work due to fluctuating circumstances, we constantly rose to the demands required and were the sole installation team for the project between June-December 2020.
